About Dr. Marlan Hansen
Dr. Marlan Hansen, MD is a Professor of Otolaryngology, Professor of Molecular Physiology and Biophysics, and Professor of Neurosurgery at the Carver College of Medicine. He is the Brian F. McCabe Distinguished Chair in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
Dr. Hansen received his BS in Microbiology from Brigham Young University, and then completed his medical degree at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He then completed a residency in Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery at UI Hospitals and Clinics, and served as a fellow for the House Ear Clinic in Los Angeles.
Dr. Hansen’s research interests include molecular and cellular signals that regulate the development, maintenance and regeneration of afferent cochlear innervation, factors influencing clinical outcomes with cochlear implants and treatment of vestibular schwannomas, and contribution of growth factor receptor and intracellular kinase signaling to vestibular schwannoma formation and growth.
