About Dr. Thomas Sos
Dr. Sos is widely regarded as one of the world’s top authorities in renal artery and below knee limb salvage angioplasty and stenting. Dr. Sos is a pioneer in his field and has designed and patented numerous devices for interventional procedures for radiology, cardiology and surgery including the first micro-catheter, the “Sos Open-Ended Guidewire” (Bard, Inc), the first shaped embolization coil, the "Tornado" (Cook, Inc.) a small vessel PTA catheter, "Viper", Scimed, and the Sos Omni selective and flush catheters, (Angiodynamics, Inc.).
He is currently working on several new patent pending projects: a novel new guidewire tip design and micropuncture set which eliminates wire exchange for upsizing, a venous (including pulmonary artery) thrombectomy device, and a simple but effective device to prevent guidewires from spontaneously "jumping" out of the soak basin during interventional procedures.
